What do I do if I have high blood sugars?

Immediately check your blood glucose levels, if it confirms they are high, then:
  1. Drink water or other sugar free liquids right away to keep yourself hydrated.
  2. If you take insulin to control your diabetes, you may need to take an additional dose. (Ask your primary healthcare provider about the need of additional insulin).
  3. Recheck your blood glucose levels every 4 to 6 hours to ensure the levels are infact coming down. If the levels don't go down or if they are further elevated, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
